i have been so bad about blogging lately, but i've been busy! easter weekend j was here then that monday mom came down for the week and just left today.  instead of doing all the homework that i have today i decided to get a pedicure, buy tina fey's new book bossypants, go to target, go to panera, come home, read bossypants and finish it.  reading this book is just what i needed. i laughed so hard i was crying and had to put the book down so i could get a drink of water.  she is so hilarious. this is my favorite part of the book.  tina is talking about how the image of women is always dictated by celebrities and how Beyonce & Jennifer Lopez paved the way for embracing a full figured women, this is what she says...

"And from that day foward, women embraced their diversity and realized that all shapes and sizes are beautiful. Ah ha ha. No. I'm totally messing with you.  All Beyonce and JLo have done is add to the laundry list of attributes women must have to qualify as beautiful.  Now every girl is expected to have:  Caucasian blue eyes, full Spanish lips, a classic button nose, hairless Asian skin with a California tan, a Jamaican dance hall ass, long Swedish legs, small Japanese feet, the abs of a lesbian gym owner, the hips of a nine-year-old boy, the arms of Michelle Obama, and doll tits.  The person closest to actually achieving this look is Kim Kardashian, who, as we know was made by Russian scientist to sabotage our athletes.  Everyone else is struggling."

i love this, because it's so true and so hilarious.  this book is essentially a bunch of essays tina has written about different situations that shes been a part of or important people in her life.  it truly is hilarious and definitely a book most people can read in a day.  although i do read freakishly fast, and having my kindle that automatically downloads any book i want doesn't help. (i do suggest people get a kindle, you will never want to read a "real" book again)  anyways i should probably get back to writing my other fake blog for a writing project (shout out to nancy if you read this) there's a really good chance ill blog again tonight.

papa moreau

the moreau family circa 1997
i am very blessed to have two parents who love me unconditionally, and extended family who loves me just as much. while i love my mom and dad both equally i decided to talk about my papa today.  my dad and i are so alike. we have a similar sense of humor, are both geniuses (lol) and are interested in similar topics, music, shows etc. when i was 15 i was in love with justin timberlake, and still am to this day as a matter of fact. he was coming to play at the verizon center in DC and it was completely sold out.  needless to say i was devastated when i found out.  this was just around the time craigs list became big, and before it got really sketchy.  i was paroosing craigs list night and day trying to find tickets but my dad kept saying he would not be paying that much for me to see JT strut his stuff onstage.  disappointed i went to school and carried on with my day.  my dad picked me up from school which was unusual since we usually had to walk home.  he handed me a piece of paper and i started shaking. he had found a ticket to justin timberlake!!!!!  yes you read right, just one ticket, i went all by myself to see him but i didn't even care. it was a fantastic night my parents dropped me off hung out in the freezing cold while i danced and nearly cried seeing justin's sexy little butt perform onstage.  come on girls how many of your dads would do something like that for you?!
papa and i after graduation in 2009.

my dad is one of the strongest people that i know.  he has gone through so much in his life but always manages to put a smile on his face and is always doing things for others selflessly. i consider him one of my best friends and i know i am his bff4l. he supports me in anything that i do and is always there to give advice and help me whenever i need something.  while he is a man of few words they can usually cheer me up or make me feel at ease when a situation goes wrong.  recently he took a trip to haiti with our church. i was pretty surprised when he said he was going to go on a missions trip. he isn't really a mission trip kind of guy.  but that trip changed him. i haven't had a chance to see him since he returned but he did write an amazing analytical view of the trip which he sent to me and many other people who prayed for him while he was there. (if you want to read it i can email it to you!) Here is a video of the trip that the church put together. while i know many people aren't fortunate to have such a great relationship with their parents i thank God every day that i have not one but two parents who love me unconditionally and support me in everything that i do. i love you both :)

if you haven't been to Etsy, i suggest you do so immediately.  it's a great site where people can set up their own shops of handmade and unique jewelry.  at first it can be pretty overwhelming, but once you get the hang of it you want to keep looking and spending your $$$.  here are a couple shops that i have gotten stuff from!
these lovely earrings are from Frieda Sophie.  she uses gemstones in alot of her pieces and i love love it!  i will definitely be spending some more money there as soon as i get more money...
i got these cute little feathers from Stella Bella.  she makes a majority of her stuff out of vintage pieces. so adorable right!

this is a pretty short post but i am exhausted! ill definitely post this weekend. have a happy friday!

10 songs.

i love music.  so it only seems appropriate that i post my top current 10 favorite songs.  they're in no order and if you click on the name of the song you can switch on over to the youtube video.
  1. Teenage Dream-Katy Perry--i'm a huge katy perry fan.  her latest cd 'teenage dream' which was just released in August, has some great songs on it, but this is one of my favorites.  not only is it an upbeat songs that makes you want to dance the lyrics are pretty adorable too.  it's one of the best feelings when someone thinks your pretty without any make up on and she captures that perfectly in this tune.
  2. After The Storm-Mumford & Sons-- mumford & sons is a fantastic band from england.  some may know them for their song 'the cave' which is a great song.  but this song from their debut cd 'sigh no more'. "there will come a time you'll see with no more tears and love will not break your heart, but it will dismiss your fears, get over your hill and see what you will find there. with grace in your heart and flowers in your hair" i love this song because it talks about living life and never worrying. and of course the calm always comes after the storm.
  3. Electric Twist- A Fine Frenzy--a fine frenzy is the gorgeous alison sudol.  her cd 'bomb in a birdcage is definitely something you're going to want to pick up asap.  all of her songs are so sweet and full of truth.  whether it's heartache or falling love or describing a kiss.  by far my favorite song by her is electric twist.  it's one of my favorites to turn up really loud in the car when i'm driving, or to dance to when i'm home alone. the music video is also really fun!
  4. The Great Salt Lake-Band Of Horses--i have been fortunate enough to see band of horses live back in 2008...and my best friend audrey and i even snuck into VIP to meet the band.  this song from their debut album 'everything all the time'. seeing this song life was amazing. it's all about feeling like you're about to fall apart you can go home and know that you will be all least that's how i interpret it.
  5. I'd Rather Be With You-Joshua Radin--i just recently saw joshua radin live back in february, if you have the chance you must see him live. he is so sweet and all of his music is so truthful and straight from the heart.  while most of his songs are about heartbreak this song from his cd 'simple times' is precious.  it's all about finding that person that you are perfect with and knowing that wherever you are whatever you're doing you'd rather be with that person. and taking that jump dive into love. "with you beside me i no longer fear"
  6. I Know- Meaghan Smith--i had never heard of meaghan smith before she was featured on the 500 days of summer soundtrack (which if you haven't seen you're missing out).  this song from her album 'cricket's orchestra'.  her voice is so pure and smooth and so is this love.  it's all about the little things in love that make you fall inlove with that person even more each day. and sometimes "words are not needed".
  7. Kind-Eisley--these guys are all cool is that! they hail from texas and aren't very well known.  the two sisters who do most of the vocals sing in perfect harmony and i've never listened to a song that i dont like by them.  their latest cd 'the valley' is full of fantastic tunes.  but this one in particular is my favorite. it's all about being there for that person you love and letting them know that even though the world is falling on their shoulders you would "buy them a diamond if you had to" just to cheer up their day.
  8. Crazy For You-Adele--adele is taking the music world by storm!  this 22 year old sure knows how to belt out the most amazing heartfelt songs.  this song from his first cd '19', which she wrote when she was only 19 is sooooo great.  the song title is pretty explanatory.  there is only a guitar in this song and her voice!
  9. Fairytale-Sara Bareilles--this song is so clever.  if you listen to the lyrics shes talking about all the disney princesses and how after the happily ever after their relationships failed. "snow white is doing dishes again, cause what else could you do with 7 itty bitty men'. sara is really talented and is from her first cd 'little voice'
  10. I Won't Let Go-Rascal Flatts--i had never really been that into country music before i started dating my boyfriend, but it's grown on me and i'm loving it.  this song by rascal flatts from their latest cd 'nothing like this' is so adorable.  it reminds me of vows someone would say at their wedding. you can tell whoever wrote this really loves who theyre talking about and that is so sweet. "i will stand by you, i will help you through. when you've done all you can do, and you can't cope, i will dry your eyes i will fight your fight, i will hold you tight and i won't let go"
so those are just a few of my favorites. happy saturday everyone :)

be yourself.

"be yourself; everyone else is already taken." oscar wilde.

blogging. i've dabbled a bit, i must admit, i am a poet, and didn't even know it.:) in all seriousness, i've always wanted to start a blog and really keep up with it. i'll start off with a little about myself.  i'm twenty, i attend roger williams university & i study economics. my family is in virginia, and so is my heart, with my boyfriend jordan. (i'm cheesy i know). i always read blogs and am always envious of how creative people are by posting crafts that they do or magnificent things they have done.  i want to use this blog to talk about the things that i love to do, and people or events that impact my life greatly.  i may post a recipe i want to try, clothes i love, blogs i've stumbled upon, or a boring run down of my day.  hopefully you will join me in this journey; filled with sarcasm, love, joy, and hope that each and every day will be better than the last.
